Disaster Recovery.

The importance of your data is unquantifiable and the risks of data loss through poor processes and lack of disaster recovery planning can be too great a risk.
Simply ask yourself the question: “what would happen if you lost all the data on your server?”

Could your business recover and if so, how long would it take?
Many companies may be changing their tapes daily, sending them to a secure location, frequently running their head cleaning tapes...

but...

how often do you restore data?
Are some of the files being backed up already corrupted?
Are you placing the following days tape into the server when it is actually requiring a second tape for the previous days backup?

We will check that not only are your back-ups being effectively run, but there are processes in place for ensuring that back-ups are properly managed, and that ONLY appropriate data is being backed up.

We will check that:

· Back-up devices are functioning properly: e.g., tape heads are clean; appropriate backup media is used; tapes are still functional
· The Back-up process is being implemented correctly,
· e.g. tape changes and how often,
· how often are the drive-heads cleaned,
· where are the tapes stored,
· what is the actual routine (e.g., daily, monthly annual back-ups being completed?).
· That the capacity of your current backup device adequate for your backup needs.
· The back-up does not include needless data or old data that could be archived

If necessary, PWM can suggest alternate backup solutions or changes to each of the above.

On the whole, companies do not have adequate disaster recovery plans in place. If requested, we can look at providing a quotation for a formalised an IT Disaster Recovery plan.

Even if you decide our service is not for you, please take a couple of minutes to do a quick risk-assessment exercise. Imagine your systems have failed. Are you confident you could restore your systems before the day-to-day running of your business was badly hit?
